Houchens Insurance Group (HIG) is the result of 5 esteemed organizations coming together as a single group, each leveraging their own expertise to operate as a cohesive and synergized team. HIG originated with the Center of Insurance, which joined the Houchens family in the late 90s. Over time, they strategically added to their team, starting with Insurance Specialist as their benefits expertise, followed by Van Meter Insurance in 2006, which brought expertise and knowledge for competitive advancement. In 2007, Curneal Hignite expanded HIG’s presence to Elizabethtown by joining the team. Next, Roeding Insurance, a 100-year-old agency in Lexington and Northern KY, came on board, adding expertise in the Public Entity sector and significant volume to the commercial book. All this combined revenue was originally $35M and today totals over $120M with 400+ employee-owners. Since 2023, Houchens Insurance Group has grown its team by acquiring 3 more organizations: Henneberger and Flynn from Paducah, LS Benefits Group from Dayton, OH, and Southern Cost Insurance in Santa Rosa, FL. These organizations further strengthen Houchens Insurance Group’s position in the market and expands their footprint in the US. Houchens Insurance Group has been recognized as the 45th largest agency in the nation as rated by Insurance Journal (2023), recognized as a Best Place to Work company in Kentucky for eight consecutive years, winning first place in 2020, and now competes in Business Insurance’s Best Place to Work in Insurance for national recognition, consecutively ranking 2nd in the medium size category.
